Two Bay Ladderax Shelving System With Bureau and Record Cabinet
The free standing Ladderax shelving system is a timeless classic designed by Robert Heal in 1964 for Staples in London. Much loved for its minimalist lines, ease of assembly and almost infinite customisability, it remains sought after to this day as beautiful, functional, flexible and desirable furniture. This two bay example would make a perfect work station in any home office, or could equally be a fantastic room divider, or simply handy and beautiful storage in any room. The system consists of:
3 x wooden ladder supports
1 x wood fronted sliding door cabinet
1 x bureau unit with drop front
1 x record cabinet with built in dividers
1 x single drawer unit
3 x standard shelves
1 x deep shelf with upstand
16 x support rails
Anti-tip locking nuts for all cabinets
Key to fit bureau and record cabinet
All the components are in good vintage condition, showing minor wear, surface marking and colour variation commensurate with their age. There are visible ring marks on the top of the bureau and single drawer unit (see photos) but these add character and in our opinion don't detract from the overall look of the piece. There is also an area of scratched marks on the lower right hand corner of the record cabinet door (see photo), but again we think this adds character. The key works in the locks for the bureau and the record cabinet, and should also work in the single drawer unit, however this lock has become stuck and has been removed from the drawer (but it will be supplied with the piece).
