faqs, t&c's, etc

  • Who are Whittaker & Gray?

We're people who are passionate about bringing great pieces from the recent past back into use so that they can continue to be enjoyed by people who really appreciate them.

  • Where does your stock come from?

Anywhere and everywhere!  We spend our time scouring auctions, house clearances, old barns, dusty attics etc etc looking for neglected pieces that have the potential to be great again.

  • Can I come and see pieces I'm interested in?

Absolutely - pieces on the website can be viewed by appointment at our showroom:

Unit 2, Broad Oak Business Park, Redbrook Maelor, Whitchurch, Shropshire SY13 3AQ.

To arrange to view a piece from the website, please call 07758 747350 or contact us.

  • How does shipping work?

If your chosen piece is small enough to post, we'll add the shipping cost when you check out.  We charge postage at cost, plus a small amount to cover packing materials and labour.  Larger pieces obviously can't be posted, so either we can arrange for these to be sent to you by courier, you can arrange for your own courier to collect them, or you can come and collect them yourself.  We can also arrange international shipping if required.  If you'd like a shipping quote for any item please click here. As a rough guide, the cost to deliver a sideboard, dining table or similar large piece to London would usually be £60.00.

  • What if I want to return something?

We hope that you'll love what you buy, but if you do decide that a piece you've bought isn't for you, please contact us within seven days of receipt and let us know you'll be sending it back for a refund.  You'll need to pay the return shipping cost and obviously we'll need the piece back in the same condition it was delivered in.

  • Will the piece I buy look like new?

No!  Our stock consists almost entirely of vintage pieces which are by definition many years old and previously used.  This means that they will show signs of age and wear.  While our restorers will ensure that pieces are structurally sound (unless otherwise noted in the item description) and will undertake some cosmetic work to bring out the beauty and character of a piece, they will not (usually) make them look like new.

  • Do you provide a guarantee?

Because our pieces are vintage, we can't offer any guarantees or warranties on any item.  If you're concerned about the condition of any piece you're interested in, we'll be happy to provide extra photos or a more detailed condition report, or of course you're welcome to come and view it for yourself - just click here to arrange a visit.
