Whittaker & Gray was born out of a love for creating and styling eclectic interiors in our home. We couldn't find the pieces we wanted in the condition we needed on the high street, so we started roaming the country digging through barns, basements, auctions and attics in search of unique items that had seen better days, but which had the potential to be both beautiful and useful once again. We now specialise in finding and restoring furniture, art glass, ceramics and home wares dating from the 1950s to the 1970s, but we're style lovers not period freaks, so we won't turn our nose up when we find something interesting, unusual or beautiful that happens to be a bit older or younger. To complement our mid-century and vintage pieces, we also offer a carefully chosen selection of modern homewares, helping you to create your perfect room.
As well as being online, we love to meet mid-century and vintage fans at various markets and fairs around the country, so if you're visiting any of the events listed on our Events page, do look out for the Whittaker & Gray stall and come and say hello!
About Our Stock
The pieces we sell are genuine vintage items which have been gently restored to bring out their true character and beauty. This means each one is unique, with its own character and charm. Inevitably this can mean that some pieces have marks of age and use we can't remove. Where this affects the appearance or functionality of a piece we'll say so in the description, but if you have any questions about condition or anything else, please do contact us.

If your chosen piece is small enough to post, we'll add the shipping cost when you check out. We charge postage at cost, plus a small amount to cover packing materials and labour. Larger pieces obviously can't be posted, so either we can arrange for these to be sent to you by courier, you can arrange for your own courier to collect them, or you can come and collect them yourself. We can also arrange international shipping if required. If you'd like a shipping quote for any item please click here. As a rough guide, the cost to deliver a sideboard, dining table or similar large piece to London would usually be £60.00.
We hope that you'll love what you buy, but if you do decide that a piece you've bought isn't for you, please contact us within seven days of receipt and let us know you'll be sending it back for a refund. You'll need to pay the return shipping cost and obviously we'll need the piece back in the same condition it was delivered in.
Because our pieces are vintage, we can't offer any guarantees or warranties on any item. If you're concerned about the condition of any piece you're interested in, we'll be happy to provide extra photos or a more detailed condition report, or of course you're welcome to come and view it for yourself - just click here to arrange a visit.
We offer a full interior design and styling service for our customers. We will work with you to interpret your brief, create the perfect design for your interior and then project manage the installation from start to finish, including sourcing materials, furnishings and decorative pieces as required. If you're looking for a specific piece of furniture (or style of piece) we can search for it on your behalf in exchange for a finder's fee (this will be either a flat fee or a percentage of the cost depending on the value of the piece). Refurbishing, Refinishing & Painting
We're happy to refurbish, refinish or paint furniture pieces for our customers. Please contact us with details of your project and we'll advise on and quote for the work required to achieve the results you're seeking.

Seat Replacement Using Danish Cord

Prop Hire & Search
All pieces in our current stock are available for hire to film, TV and stage productions taking place in the UK. We can also source pieces for sale or hire to productions as required. Please contact us for more details.
All pieces in our current stock can be shipped internationally if required. To date we have sent pieces to the USA, Canada, Continental Europe and Ireland. Please contact us if you'd like more information or an international shipping quote.
