G-Plan Brandon Cupboard Chest with Adjustable Swing Mirror (Model B821)
The classic Brandon range was the first to be produced by E Gomme under the G-Plan brand name and was launched in 1953. All Brandon pieces were made in light oak veneer with the upper drawer(s) set back slightly into the frame, and all used simple geometrically styled handles.
This "cupboard chest" with a fitted "adjustable swing mirror" is quite a rare piece from the Brandon range. It features in the first ever G-Plan catalogue and was probably manufactured in 1953 or 1954.
Overall the piece is in good vintage condition: there are some small black marks on the cabinet top (see photo), but these don't really detract from the overall look (consider them patina!); there's also a long scratch down the left hand side of the piece - this is noticeable, but would not be visible if the piece was placed against a wall or next to any other piece of furniture.
