G-Plan Brandon Handy Bedside Tables (Model B829)
The classic Brandon range was the first to be produced by E Gomme under the G-Plan brand name and was launched in 1953. All Brandon pieces were made in light oak veneer with the upper drawer(s) set back slightly into the frame, and all used simple geometrically styled handles.
This "Handy" bedside cabinet incorporates the eponymous handy shelf which turns the space below into an even more handy book rack. This model features in the first ever G-Plan catalogue and was probably manufactured in 1953 or 1954. Both pieces are in good vintage condition, with no major bumps or scrapes, tight joints and veneer in generally good order. There are some small areas of colour variation in the veneer, and on one cabinet a small slither of veneer is missing from the shelf itself (see photos).
