Iconic Harry Bertoia Side Chair Eames Era 1950s
Harry Bertoia was a sculptor and designer who studied and worked at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the 1950s at the same time as the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and - crucially - Florence Knoll. Seeing the potential in Bertoia's wirework sculptures, Knoll commissioned him to create a suite of furniture using the same materials. One of the results was the now iconic Bertoia Side Chair. Bertoia once said, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them."
We have two Bertoia Side Chair available. They are in good vintage condition showing wear commensurate with their age, such as small chips to the white paint (see photos). All the welding is fine and the chairs are structurally sound.
Price is per chair.
